CONGRESS OF CLINICAL RHEUMATOLOGY



The Arthritis Foundation (Alabama Chapter) "Outstanding Speaker Award" is presented yearly following the meeting. In 2009, it was renamed the Congress of Clinical Rheumatology Outstanding Speaker Award. The recipient is selected by the participants.

The Dr. Charles Porter Lecture is named in honor of the former Director of
Medical Education and Research at Brookwood.  Charles was instrumental in the development of
Rheumatology on the Beach.  A cardiologist and former Director of the Internal Medicine training
program at Lloyd Noland Hospital in Birmingham, Charles received the Ira L. Myers Award from
the Medical Association of the State of Alabama for his lifelong commitment to physician education.

The Arthritis Foundation (Alabama Chapter) Rheumatologist of the Year Award
is awarded annually to an Alabama Physician who has contributed to
Arthritis Treatment or Education in the State.  The recipient is
selected by the patient members of the Arthritis Foundation and is sponsored by Pfizer.
